Central Coast Creamery is an exciting new addition to Woodlands. Located in Paso Robles, an area that startled the palates of the world with its award-winning wines, Central Coast Creamery is poised to bring further acclaim to this high-desert phenomena with a savory duo of local, hormone free milk cheeses aimed straight for their mission statement: “To make great cheese, to help with the movement to redefine the American palate, and to do this responsibly.” Their artisan Seascape is made from a blend of goat and cow milk. Semi-soft and smooth textured, it’s been aged for at least five months to achieve its tangy delectableness. It holds up perfectly -- no surprise -- with your favorite Paso Robles wine. Central Coast has also hand-crafted a Goat Gouda and, well, the name says it all. With a chewy texture, and nutty, earthy and light caramel notes, this ivory colored cheese is an elegant addition to your table. It’s only domestic goat Gouda I carry, and you can taste why. If you’re wanting something more continental, Cypress Grove is bringing to the Market the wonderful Midnight Moon. This rich and creamy semi-hard goat cheese is made in Holland from an original recipe, and you can actually feel the fresh Dutch countryside, the tulips and windmills, and the exceptional cheese making. Pair it with fig or fresh fruit. Speaking of Romance, Woodlands once again bringing out its hearts--its hearts of cheese! The Mini-Coeur is a lovely package of small heart-shaped French goat cheeses. In a set of four, each sprinkled with different herbs, these little cheeses really let you spread your heart around. If you want something more monogamous, we also have a bigger single heart version. Perfect for two. Roucoulons is a washed-rind round brie that wears it heart on its label. Creamy, and a little smelly but in a good way, this cheese is meant to be savored with someone you love. Add Piedras de Chocolate (“Rocks of Chocolate”), large chocolate covered Spanish almonds, dusted with cocoa, and your Valentine’s tray is complete. Flavorful, completely additive, not too sweet but, well, chocolate, these tasty nuts will make sure Cupid won’t fly right past. More likely, he’ll sit down to your table and pour his love all around. Much better than those pesky arrows. Enjoy! Take Notes! From the Fortimtican Company comes the dream for every passionate but forgetful cheese lover: Cheese Journals! This little book has charts to categorize over 118 types of cheese, with room to write the name, type of milk, and your deepest innermost thoughts about each and every cheese you taste. You can create your own personalized rating guide. Never again will you have to think, “I had this great cheese, and it was white, and it was creamy, and …” or, “I know there’s a brie I love and a brie I hate, so which is it?” You can bring it in, and I can gladly give you suggestions to help fill it up. It’s every cheese lover’s perfect companion! Thank you for reading. Octavio Saez de Ibarra, The Cheese Department
