Flavors of honey, baked apple, Concord grape, and cinnamon.

El Injerto is one of the most celebrated coffee farms in Guatemala. It continues to be a leader in national tasting competitions, this year they ranked another coffee amongst the best in Guatemala’s Cup of Excellence competition. El Injerto has placed in the finals of Cup of Excellence fourteen times, amassing a stunning seven first place awards!

Equator Coffees started its relationship with El Injerto by offering an assortment of coffees, purchased primarily through El Injerto’s annual auction. Now, for the third year in a row, they are offering their Red Catuai variety coffee (Red Cat for short) purchased directly from the farm. We also have a natural processed lot of Red Catuai which we suggest brewing as a single-origin espresso.

The farm was founded by Jesús Aguirre Panamá in 1874, with the first coffee planted around 1900. Today El Injerto is managed by the third and fourth generations of the Aguirre family. The property is planted with about 620 acres of coffee, with another 1,160 acres of rain forest preserve adjoining the farm.
