Department Focus: Woodlands Pet Shop
Since Woodlands Pet Shop opened last year in downtown San Francisco around the corner from Woodlands Market, it has come to be relied upon by the residents of SoMa for their pet needs. We provide a variety of food, supplements, toys and supplies for dogs, cats and other pets.
We’ve worked hard to make sure our foods and treats contain no artificial ingredients, unspecified byproducts, or fillers. We recently overhauled our pet food selection, phasing out some brands we felt weren’t up to snuff, and introducing others that we feel use the best food sources for your pet.
At the request of many customers, we’ve added a section for small animals, including birds, turtles, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, and fish.
We recently hosted our first adoption event with Rocket Dog Rescue, a local, volunteer-based rescue group that ventures into over-crowded animal shelters to save dogs and cats from euthanasia. They brought a number of adoptable dogs and cats to the shop who have been fostered by the organization’s amazing volunteers. We had a successful adoption onsite, and also began the process for a number of other adopters to give one of these animals a forever home.
In the spirit of giving back to the community, Woodlands Pet Shop has donated over 3,500 pounds of pet food to two great animal rescue organizations: Rocket Dog Rescue and Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF). ARF’s Pets for Vets program transforms dogs rescued from euthanasia into skilled service animals for veterans with PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, anxiety, severe depression and more. We chose Pets for Vets because of all they do for those that have helped serve our country.
If you haven’t checked out our little shop on the corner of Beale and Folsom Streets, please stop by with your furry friend and say hello. The shop manager Patricia Rivas and her fantastic team will be there to greet you with a smile and a treat for the pups!
