Meat + Seafood
If there’s anything you should know about Woodlands Market Meat & Seafood Department, it’s that it has set standards in quality based on principles, education, philosophy, relationships, heritage and experience that are wholly unique to Woodlands Market.
You should also know that Woodland Meats co-founder, Steve Sbragia has been walking the meat counter since it opened in 1986. Steve’s time with Woodlands has allowed him to meticulously study every detail and every angle of the business and to evolve and apply very high personal standards that patrons (and employees) of his immaculate department enjoy everyday.
Not bogged down by a corporate mission or controlled buying practices, Steve has the ability to build quality relationships with local ranchers and seafood procurers that meet his personal standards in animal and human welfare, processing, quality, taste and value.
While he prefers local meat raised with the very highest and innovative standards in animal welfare, Steve understands that providing top quality conventionally raised meats is essential for some of his customers. He prides himself in knowing where every cut of meat and every filet of fish comes from and in using locally produced and supplied paper products to parcel your next meal up for the trip home.
For Steve, his business goes beyond animal welfare and good taste; thinking of his producers as business partners; demonstrating understanding, respect and support has been a key to his success in creating long-term relationships with procurers, customers and employees.
Without a doubt, Steve Sbragia’s attention to detail, passion, sense of ownership and love for his customers would never have existed without the values his dad, Giovanni Sbragia instilled in him. Giovanni began cutting meat as a 5th grader in Lucca, Italy, opened his first meat distributorship in Santa Rosa, California in 1969, and co-founded Woodlands Meats & Seafood in 1986. Steve knows that his dad’s work ethic, dedication and mentorship has had everything to do with his success.
A visit to the meat and seafood department yields not only choice cuts of meats and fish, but also many house produced specialties as well. Sample the wide variety of house sausages, some utilizing Giovanni’s own heritage family recipes, delectable house ground stuffed burgers made with beef, chicken, or turkey, hand mixed beef or turkey meatloaf, grab and go house rubbed or marinated beef, pork, lamb, and chicken ready for the grill or oven, and oven ready stuffed salmon, chicken or pork.
Anybody who shops at Woodlands Market knows Steve’s team, some of who have been working at Woodlands for at least 10 years, are smart, top-notch butchers and providers of the best customer service available. Led by Manager Joe Moore out of the Kentfield location with an assist by Ron Silva running the Tiburon counter, if you need a recipe idea or even to be cheered up; visit Woodland Meats & Seafood.
