San Francisco has loved sparkling wine ever since the Gold Rush, when Champagne was introduced by the French and woven into our cultural fabric. This holiday season we have a number of great bottles, at all price ranges, for every palate. So pop a cork and raise a toast to a new year with a loved one and some bubbly!


Canella Prosecco – One of our featured sparkling wines for the holidays. This light-bodied, silky sparkling wine has subtle hints of sweetness and acidity and is priced to sell.

Bisol Jeio Prosecco – Drier and more in the Brut style of champagne, Jeio is a nicely balanced Italian wine with plenty of complexity.

Cleto Chiarli Lambrusco – This red, sparkling wine from Italy is slightly sweet and fruity, with a fresh berry character and a tart and bright finish. It appeals to people who don’t like the bone-dry types of sparkling wines.

J. Laurens Brut Cremant de Limoux – From Limoux in southern France, this particular Cremant is made in the traditional method, the same way Champagne is made. This affordable bottle drinks like a much more expensive Champagne, with a rich, yeasty nose and citrus notes with a slight spice.

Moet & Chandon Imperial Brut Champagne – There’s a reason everyone knows Moet. This slightly fruity Champagne is a stone-cold classic: smooth and crisp going down, with a bright acidity and mineral flavor.

Taittinger Brut La Francaise Champagne – Blended from 30 different Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vineyards, this traditional Champagne has more of a green apple character than the Moet. It uses a higher proportion of Chardonnay grapes than other Champagnes, giving it a clear freshness that others lack.

Deutz Brut Classic Champagne – This bright Champagne offers hints of crisp citrus, honey, and smoke and is full-bodied enough to enjoy with a meal.


Domaine Saint Vincent Brut Rosé – Produced by Gruet Winery in New Mexico, this sparkling wine is magenta in color and features floral aromatics with a zesty, acidic berry-like flavor. A great value.

Domaine Carneros Brut – Made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes, this persistently bubbly sparkling wine is creamy and full, with ample green apple and pear flavors that end in a long finish. Made in California and owned by Champagne Taittinger in France.

Roederer Estate Brut – Grown in Mendocino County and produced by Champagne Louis Roederer in France, this extra-sparkling wine has a hint of cinnamon spice and rich, vibrant flavors. Wine aged in oak casks for one to three years is added to the final blend, giving it an extra body and depth of flavor.
